Born in Mitaka-city, Tokyo, Japan in 1986. From the influence of his father, Hiroki Kimura; who is a pianist of Masaaki Hirao’s band, Genta and his brothers grew up surrounded by music and piano. His older brother is Jinya Kimura (tuba player) , who works in many fields such as NHK(Japan Broadcasting Corporation) serial dramas and movies. Fascinated by classical guitar as a student, Genta spent his days playing the guitar until late every night in a band.

After graduating from the Department of Woodworks Technology of Tokyo Metropolitan Vocational Skills Development Center in 2005, he started working at Woodworking Terui Ltd., creating furnitures and fittings. Genta also attended the "Shukoukai" , organized by Tokio Inoue of Inoue Cutlery Inc., on his days off, where he learned how to sharpen knives and handle traditional tools. While learning how to make things using only hand tools, he started making guitars on his own.

After 7 years later in 2012, having an occasion to show his first guitar to Masaki Sakurai; classical guitar luthier, Genta started to work at Kono Guitar Manufacturing, where he started to learn how to make classical guitars. Becoming independent in 2015, he set up his own workshop in Ageo-city, Saitama prefecture. After 2years of research period, Genta started making original guitars from 2017.
